The Women Leadership in Peace and Security Course is currently ongoing at the Peace and Conflict Studies School (PCSS) in Karen.
The two-week course is sponsored by the Government of Japan through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and has 30 participants.
WLC 2
The course aims to equip and enhance the participants’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes on the importance of effective women's leadership in promoting peace and security, thereby enabling them to serve as agents of transformation within their respective spheres of influence.
WLC 3
The course is structured around key thematic areas including a contextual overview of peace and security in Africa, gender mainstreaming in peace and security, women’s leadership, and normative legal frameworks, as well as the critical roles women play across various stages of conflict.
This initiative not only builds individual capacity but also contributes to broader efforts aimed at strengthening gender-responsive peace and security frameworks across the region.

The Integrated Explosive Hazard Awareness Training (EHAT) and the Heavy Engineering Equipment (HEE) Basic Machine Operators Training Course is underway at the Humanitarian Peace Support School.
EHAT 2
Sponsored by the United Nations Triangular Partnership Programme (UNTPP), the course is designed to equip trainees with critical skills in machine operation and explosive hazard awareness, preparing them to operate safely in peace support environments where explosive threats may be present.
EHAT 3
In his remark, the Deputy Commandant HPSS, Lt Col Kaptuway emphasized that the course is designed to equip trainees with essential machine operation skills, serving as a foundational step in preparing them for deployment in environments where explosive hazards are present. He further stated that each lesson undertaken during the course represents not only an investment in the personal and professional development of the individual trainees, but also a meaningful contribution to the collective strength and operational effectiveness of the teams they will integrate into in the future.
EHAT 4
The course will be facilitated by a training team from Japan and will involve 30 participants from Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Ghana, who are set to undergo eight weeks of intensive training.

The All Arms Search Course Training of Trainers, delivered in French, has officially commenced at the Humanitarian Peace Support School (HPSS). This marks the third French-language iteration of the course. It brings together participants from the Central African Republic (CAR) and Morocco, with instruction led by the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) Mobile Training Team.
AASC FRENCH 4
The training is designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to instruct others on operating in non- conventional environments affected by explosive hazards. A key focus of the course is on recognizing, responding to, and mitigating threats posed by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
AASC FRENCH 2
By strengthening the instructional capabilities of troops from troop contributing countries, this course contributes to regional and international efforts to improve operational safety and build resilience against explosive threats.
